Charity plays a rather large and important role in capitalism; yet it evades being a target of strict scrutiny due to its moral quality. It is one of the most efficiently functioning apparatus of capitalism, which safeguards class impermeability by creating a sense of meaning. Charity presents a prime example as to how capitalism distorts and shapes identities, perceptions, concepts, and people to its conservative will by reducing them to a series of consumer needs that it then caters to, in order to further itself in a predatory fashion.
