This paper is divided in two parts. The first one develops the identification established between heroes and weapons during some episodes of the Aeneid, analysing one of its consequences: the condemnation of plundering. This frame nourishes the second part of the study, which, centered in Aeneas, maintains that the character's interactions with others' weapons are concrete applications of this radical Vergilian shift, expressed in the hero's figure. The exposition leads to an epilogue, where these subjects are viewed in a metaliterary level, considering both the Aeneid's affiliation with the literary tradition, as well as its independence from the latter.
