The Art and History Museum of Geneva purchased a Greek aryballus from the former Strachnov collection in 2004. This flask belongs to type two after F. Brommer’s typology. Similar objects have been found in Derveni A and B, Stavroupolis, Medeon, Thasus and Taman, in the Greek area of influence and its surroundings. The archaeological context allows to date it to the fourth century B.C. The aryballus was a globular oil-flask which formed part of the toilette of Greek men in the gymnasium and contained a perfumed liquid oil used as a lotion for dry skin, to clean the body or for any other medical purpose.
