Gestures are social constructions, generally induced culturally from birth. The feelings are present in humans and play an important role in the society to which they belong. This study focuses on examples of representations of the Classic Mayan period, where characters appear experiencing some form of suffering. Ethnohistorical sources mention certain traditions and rituals that took place during the Mayan Postclassic period where the feeling of pain was present in different ways. It is possible to identify three types of pain in Mayan society during the Classic period: natural (diseases, births, rites of passage, etc. ); Religious (ritual of the hierarchy and the rulers) and social pain and / or political, caused by the society that controls people by trying to make them feel bad morally (torture, humiliation, etc. ).
