Xabier Zubiri's conception of man was central in his research and study during more than half a century in his life. His acute and original response remains as an obligatory reference in the recent antropological thinking. According to Zubiri's work, the man is neither “community” nor “comunication”. In spite of this the man is considered as being able to communicate and live in society because of his psychological characteristics. According to Zubiri, the man is “openness” in essence. As the man is “involved” in others, he “coexists” with them. In other words, the man is “shaped” by them by means of education and learning.
