The Ancient Greek world, as a means of approach to the thought of Simone Weil, is not only a register of references and influences: it is an area of affinity which corresponds to the author's search for a vital space capable of giving access via thought to the real world, as well as a language in which to express herself. The close affinity between her reading of Greek culture and that offered by Maria Zambrano suggests a common theorerical option in favour of anchoring expression in time, leading to a focus on that original space which forced a choice between rational construction and attentive reception, a space occupied by the Pythagoreanism to which Plato war heir.
