One of the basic categories linked to the landscape genre is that of the sublime. This experience entailed a set of conditions which have changed throughout history, just as the gaze of today’s viewer perceives nature in a different way. This reality, along with the emergence of a new set of issues to be taken into account, such as the environment, transforms the approach of the viewer-user, who now finds him or herself somewhere between nostalgia and a projective urge. This article takes a look at some of the latest exhibitions revolving around landscape, with the aim of observing the new categories which may emerge, as well as the potential attitude adopted by citizens in the face of other kinds of landscape.
