This article details the professional pathway of José Blat Gimeno, a Spanish
teacher who began his career at La Clua (a village in the Pyrenees in Lerida) and endedup becoming the Head of the Office of the Director-General at UNESCO. During
his career, he was a Primary Education Inspector in the Balearic Islands, an expert in
education in Ecuador, Colombia, Cuba and Chile, and held different positions at the
Ministry of Education as Head of Obligatory Primary Education.
