After almost a hundred years in decline, the Priorat wine-growing region launched a real wine revolution in the 1980s to become one of the most prominent wine regions in the world. This article explains this evolution, focusing on the municipality of Porrera, which has become a paradigmatic example. It was precisely in this municipality where, in 1893, the phylloxera plague was first detected in the Priorat region, which marked the beginning of the decline, and today it is the municipality in the wine-growing region that has the largest number of wineries and which produces the most wine.
