Amparo Bou
As the president of the Union of Valencian Journalists, Amparo Bou offers her thoughts on women in journalism and, in particular, on women’s personal experiences. She starts from the premise that for many years now women have been accepted into the profession of journalism and have penetrated all the various divisions of the profession. Nevertheless, women still have great difficulty in making it into positions of authority. The owners of media, Amparo Bou argues, continue to be men. Additionally, this article includes a reflection on the difficulties women journalists face in reconciling their lives with a profession that requires long hours and availability of time. The article ends by giving an intimate explanation of the reality of women journalists, a reality which includes the necessity to make men participants in the process of gender equality.
