In this article we trace the historical documentation of Sierra de Francia vernacular language: if occidental and archaic elements present today in this regional speaking can be found in some pastoral theatre pieces of Siglo de Oro featuring rustic characters of the south of Salamanca, we have to wait until the publication of ALPI data to perceive the meridional phonetic elements of Sierra de Francia language. After ALPI’s interview (1931), a large number of demographic and social changes occurred in this zone have led to linguistic and sociolinguistic changes. All these variations are analyzed in this paper from an oral corpus recently obtained.
