This paper analyzes, firstly, the written representation of the result of the evolution of the tonic Latin vowels Ĕ and Ŏ in documentation from the monastery of San Andrés de Vega de Espinareda, in Bierzo, León (Spain), in the 13th century. Secondly, it sheds light on the use of possessives as well as on some past verb forms, and related tenses, to verify the presence or absence of other possible diphthongs from different origins. This study is based on our own paleographic edition reading of facsimile reproductions. These linguistic phenomena are paramount to Peninsular historical dialectology, and for this reason, we are especially interested in their analysis in documents from a geographical area in transition between two linguistic varieties: Galician and Western Leonese.
