This article presents a comparative study on the different rural varieties of Maghrebi Arabic (the so - called village and mountain dialects) with the aim of outlining their common features and highlighting all those aspects that seem to be particular to the m. In addition, the classification of the Tunisian rural dialects under the villageois category is revisited, given the great divergence existing between them and those of the Algero - Moroccan group. Lastly, attention is drawn to a few (probably) coincident al parallelisms which connect the Maghrebi rural dialects to those of Central Palestine , Oman and Bahrain
