Sobre l'origen de l'expressió "épater le bourgeois"

Despite the extensive use that the expression ~épater le bourgeoisn has had in contemporary artistic literature, the question of its origin does not seem to have drawn the scholar's attention. The present note provides some data about the origin of this expression, which is attributed to the Bohemian writer, now quite forgotten, Alexandre Privat dlAnglemont.
