The need for digital literacy in the 21st century emerges from the new communicative spaces created by the technologies of information and
communication and the interactive dynamics between citizens. The article presents a review of the scientific literature and analyses the situation
of actions implemented to promote intergenerational and digital literacy in the family and the school. It is composed of four parts: the first is conceptualized identity formation citizen of the 21st century. The second presents the regulatory framework, which includes academic, didactic and organizational learning, aimed at digital inclusion and building the knowledge society. The third offers strategies for the participation of teachers, students and families within a community approach to education. Finally, the forth some guidelines provides guidance and reflections that serve as a reference to develop practices aimed at preventing the digital divide and inter-generational.
