The magazine Panenka may be classified as belonging to the Spanish-language quality narrative or slow journalism that has emerged in the midst of the economic crisis and the rise of new technologies. It forms part of a European association that includes such magazines as So Foot, Ballesterer, 11 Freunde and The Blizzard. All of them are publications on football culture in which society, culture and politics are seen in the light of this sport. Their most prominent features are the hybridization of genres, the texts, the photography and high-quality design, and they have succeeded in building their own brand. Panenka’s motto is “Panenka. The football you can read”. This paper is part of a broader international study on the health of digital narrative journalism in Spanish, in which ten prominent websites have been analyzed in depth.
