Catalonia’s reception of Georges Valois. an approach to the influences and interpretations of a forgotten authority (1918-1928)

Through an analysis of the reception of his idees in four politi-cal cultures (Maurism, Noucentista Catalanism, Social Catholicism, and Leftist Catalanism), the aim of this article is to examine the influence of Georges Valois’ thought in Catalonia. The syndicalist-corporatist views he developed after his experience in the trenches was welcomed by conserva-tives and counter-revolutionaries, who sought a solution to the gunmanism and political stagnation of the Restoration. On the other hand, leftist nationalists opposed any idea spread by the French far-right, either by members of Action Française or the leaders of French fascism.
