Fabrizio Soriano
The text analyzes the stealing of the Garibaldi movement, with their values of tradition and of myths, by Fascists who proclaimed themselves heirs and those destined to continue its work. In this sense, it highlights how fascism incorporates every single element from history and national identity into its own ideology and praxis, even today with the addition of the cult of fascism. Fascism took pride in its personification of the myth of Garibaldi and has attempted to bring it into line with modern politics for the masses, even managing to bring some Garibaldi descendents closer to the regime. The text shows that the incorporation of the Garibaldi movement into Fascism was also made possible thanks to the same passionate feelings and those very same interpretations that were shared by branches of anti-fascists.
