The identity of french Catalonians, as understood by the people of Roussillon nowaday, is the result of a long history. The rosselloneses intellectuals made efforts, for the XIXth century, to build this “double patriotisme”, showing their pride as well to be part of french nation as to be catalonian. For this, they had also to take into account the rising of catalonian nationalism in Spain.
