The European thought at the end of the nineteenth century was characterized by a critical consideration of the Age of Enlightenment ideologies. The failure of the liberal and parliamentary programs led to search new ways to link political and intellectual sectors and social masses. The modern imperialism was one of these ways. In Catalonia the local elites, especially the nationalists, performed an imperialist ideology as a way of political local regeneracionismo.
