Joan Maragall (Barcelona, 1860-1911) is an indisputable part of the Catalan canon of contemporary poetry. However, his intellectual
contributions also came in the field of journalism, through a clear desire to affect his times by acting as an intellectual in the sense that
this word acquired from Zola, as well as in his essays with philosophical pretensions. This article aims to spotlight the importance not
only of Maragalls poetic oeuvre but also his journalistic and philosophical output.
