What to do with the police?

In recent decades, social movements around the world have taken a critical approach to the police issue, which has led to the Defund the Police campaign in the United States of America. To rigorously analyse police institution, this article evocates Marx and Lenin thought, as well as the origin of the police and its relationship with the development of industrial capitalism. Finally, this process is illustrated with two examples: the Guardia Civil in the Spanish State and the Mossos d'Esquadra in Catalonia.
