This paper focuses on the study of some examples of creative modification of phraseological units (pu) in the novel Midnight’s Children by Salman Rushdie, and on the analysis of their translation into Catalan and Spanish. The creative modification of phraseological units is an evident stylistic feature of this novel, in which we can find examples of different types of creative modification (both internal and external). In the examples studied, we observe an effort made by translators to include equivalent phraseological units in their translations, as they attempted to reproduce some kind of creative modification whenever it was possible.
