Bernat Puigdollers
The outbreak of the Civil War surprised Anglada Camarasa in the city of Barcelona, where he had just opened an exhibition. Faced with the impossibility of returning to Mallorca, which immediately fell into the hands of the nationals, he asked for protection from the Generalitat de Catalunya, which assigned him to the Monastery of Montserrat, where he lived with his family and other intellectuals of the time. Despite the paucity of information regarding this period, we can reconstruct his activity thanks to the written testimony of some of those who accompanied him during his stay in Montserrat. Through this article, we recount from its protagonists, in its own words, the difficult years of the civil war of Anglada Camarasa.
