José Hernández (Tangier, 1944-Málaga, 2013) is one of the great masters of Fantastic Art, with an extensive pictorial and graphic opus recognized all over the world. At a time when Fantastic Art begins to be assessed positively in museums and the academic world, Hernández is an indispensable reference both in Spanish Art and the international panorama. With an extensive body of work since the sixties, his personal style invents an unsettling atmosphere, oneiric and grotesque, inhabited by monsters and specters that wander through mysterious spaces, a universe linked to the tradition of Renaissance and Baroque painters, as well as with fantastic literature.
