La divulgació social del discurs històric a la Catalunya del Barroc i l’ús de la història com a arma política

Aquest article defensa la tesi que l’etapa historiogràfica del Barroc va ver força més transcendent per a la historiografia catalana del que tradicionalment s’havia afirmat. Des de finals del segle xvi fins a inicis del segle xviii, el discurs historiogràfic va penetrar en sectors socials que ja no pertanyien a les classes altes o a les elits intel·lectuals. A través d’impresos de naturalesa politicopropagandística, sermons i d’altres textos de consum massiu, es produí un expandiment social del coneixement dels discurs històric sense precedents en etapes anteriors.

Abstract


In this essay I argue that the Baroque period was for Catalan historiography more important than it has been traditionally asserted. From the end of the sixteenth century to the beginning of the eighteenth century, the historical discourse penetrated social groups which did not already belong to the upper classes or the intellectual elites. Through political and propagandistic writtings, sermons and other minor texts, a social extension of the knowledge of historical discourse took place, something which did not have any precedents in earlier times.
