In this article it is expected to show the Huehuetenango region, in general, and Los Cuchumatanes mountain range, in particular, as a zone of multiple transformations and identities that overlap between themselves, thru time and space. By making diverse «lectures» or «readings» (historical, cultural, linguistic) of this region it’s shown that the frontier concept can be applied in different forms and times to this geographical space, and do not only refers to the modern political frontier that marks the limits of two sovereign states, as Guatemala and Mexico
