The image doesn't translate only the result of simple stimulus and individual answers, but there exists a public image that contains all the foundation and that is elaborated through the experience of the group of inhabitants. This image is situated in a historic process, with the contribution of physical and cultural characters of the quality of urban shapes, and it's also present in the political speech, in the poetry, in the literature, in the history, in the narrations of life and in the music.
Through out the valuations taken from public inquiries, one can determine that there is a collective image of the city in which three types of simple spaces are predominant: the territorial emblems, the representative spaces, and the places of life. According to this, these spaces embody a hierarchy for the practical or emotional discrimination of the inhabitants.
