The urbanization of Mandri Street started after the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and finished in the 1960’s, and it became a major street. Lies within the formal Municipality of Sant Gervasi de Cassoles. During the second half of the nineteenth century it became a summer vacation spot. From its adherence to Barcelona (1897) it became a residential neighbourhood, and during the first decades of the twentieth century it kept its suburban ambience. The name of the street alludes to the Mandri family, and the name of the Ca n’Altimira public gardens to Josep Altimira’s inheritance in La Bonanova. Both names remind us of the big landowners that were in this part of the city, which extends between the foothills of the Serra de Collcerola and the Pla de Barcelona.
