The analysis of the distribution of enrolled and graduates students in Geography from different universities in Mexico as well as the graduate profiles as described in geography degree programs gives us a glimpse of the scenario of the country's geography studies. In order to evaluate both, we developed a comprehensive 12-month analysis, from February 2012 to January 2013, of job offers to geography graduates as well as of skills required. This analysis was complemented with a query to the Federal Institute for Access to Information and Data Protection (IFAI) regarding geography graduates who are currently working in some federal agencies. Preliminary results shed light, in the first place, on the actual state of graduates and undergraduate enrollment in the Geography Departments of the country. Secondly, the analysis measures the differences between the academic profiles described in the college programs and the skills required in labor market.
