Laura Valls Plana
This article explores a series of installations and exhibitions –mainly devoted to natural history– that were conducted in the Museu Martorell, located in the Parque de la Ciudadela of Barcelona, from its inauguration in 1882 until 1917. We understand these exhibitions as a means of communication and as a space for relationship between scientific knowledge and public. We believe that our analysis will extract relevant information over scientific culture of Barcelona society of the time. On the other hand, it will provide an overview of the achievements in the popularization of natural sciences within and outsider the walls of the museum building during that period.
