An approach of the paths and the ways of applied Geography from 1940 in Europe and since 1960 in Spain is studied in our contribution. We also analyze the professionalization process of geographers, favoured -in the case of Spain- by the expansion of consulting and by the creation of the Geographers College. For this purpose, we made a review on the discussions occurred in this area within schools and departments of Geography, particularly in France. We reflect about the incorporation of the sub-discipline named Geography and its appliccation to the Spanish university by the successive revisions of teaching plannigns, and about the domains and fields of study of Geography. We are thinking, also, about the development and the future of professional practice for the consulting in Spain.
