This paper reports on the innovative changes made at the library of the Faculty of Biology of the Universidad de Salamanca after the university had conducted a needs analysis of library users, set a series of prior objectives and selected the tools it would need to attain these. The library now offers new services to channel the redistribution of university-generated content, produces documents and activities supporting popular science journalism and provides teaching resources and orientation for students entering the professional world.
