The aim of this article is to analyse Ken Loach’s films, made in collaboration with scriptwriter Paul Laverty, My Name is Joe (1998), Sweet Sixteen (2002) y Ae Fond Kiss (2004), which make up ‘The Glasgow Trilogy’. A previous work, Carla’s Song (1996), will also be used to examine the representation of the city as locus of different types of displacement in our contemporary global system: diaspora, cultural and economic marginalisation. The way in which strategies of cultural representation have worked since the early twentieth century in the city, as well as their relevance in the plural image shown in the artistic unit that these films create, will be studied.
