On the 17th, 18th and 19th of November, 2016, the International Literacy and Writing Conference was held, as part of the commemorations of the 10th anniversary of the Master in Writing and Literacy at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina. This article derives from the conference with which Dr. Emilia Ferreiro closed the encounter. The author analyzes theoretical and methodological difficulties faced by teachers and researchers in accepting that children construct knowledge about writing.
