Main Article Content
This article presents and comments on various documents from the Amils Collection, which has been housed at the Verdaguer Foundation in Folgueroles since 2022, thanks to the generosity of Joan Amils i Pla’s daughter, Maria Rosa Amils i Espinet of Ripoll. It makes apparent Amils’ persistence as a ‘sharpshooter’ and popularizer, in difficult times, of the Folguerolesborn poet Jacint Verdaguer’s life and work and details his close relationship with the Friends of Verdaguer association. It shows that Amils clearly deserves credit for many of the initiatives he carried out, such as the issuance of a 500-peseta banknote by the Bank of Spain and the issuance of a stamp, both bearing the popular image of Monsignor Cinto wearing a barretina hat
