The aim of this study is to determine the differences that separate Zambrano’s and Nietzsche’s philosophy from the point of view of their reflections on music. The analysis of textes from El hombre y lo divino and the 5th book of Gay Science will show that the affinity that seems to approach both thinkers through their love of music turns out to be a dissonant affinity. The texts prove the divergent ways in which their comprehension of music influenced their definition of philosophy and of the task of modern philosophers.
