Theoretical Approaches to Neoliberal Feminism

In recent years, many feminist scholars are wondering about the fate of contemporary feminism. The present work intends to investigate the emergence of a type of feminism that unfolds within the neoliberal mercantile logic. Therefore, we analyze the theoretical assumptions of what a group of authors have called "neoliberal feminism" and some of its greatest exponents. The hypothesis that we propose is that the emergence of a neoliberal feminism is the result of a theoretical and political process related to neoliberal hegemony. In this sense, we argue that the existence of a feminism that develops under the wing of neoliberalism and shares many of its theoretical presuppositions, puts at the center of the feminist debate claims that are located within the neoliberal mercantile logic and do not question the heteropatriarchal domination. To carry out the work, we propose an investigation focused on the theoretical arguments of neoliberal feminism, taking into account the discursive contexts and the claims that it formulates. Finally, we ask ourselves about the consequences of the agenda of neoliberal feminism for the demands of the emancipating feminist movement.
