Construir una ètica pública per a la teoria de la democràcia. Proposta aplicada al cas del País Valencià

From the viewpoint of normative political theory, the paper presents a proposal of public ethics for Valencia, which has its main influences in the republican and humanist traditions. The aim of a such a public ethics is to deal as an instrument for democratic regeneration, which can only succeed if the role of public ethics within democratic theory is reassured. Thus, five standards are established so as to attain a “Valencian civic republi-canism”: 1) the sincere vocation of dialogue and the disposition of agreement, accord and consensus; 2) the recognition of the civil society responsibility: 3) the anamnetic reason: recovery of the historical memory; 4) the requirement of democratic renewal; and 5) the socio-political subject “Valencian nation”: demos/ethnos and federalism
