We pretend to point to the basic guidelines that connect the capitalist imperial-ism with the global imperialism under the “Empire” concept, proposed by Antonio Negri and Michael Hardt. Certain aspects of imperialism remain in the Empire, however, two factors condition the new paradigm: the nuclear threat, and the control of mass media and money. Negri and Hardt, based on M. Foucault and G. Deleuze, highlight the two ways of domain on which the Empire is held: a netted power model distributed in different cen-ters, which in absence of a supranational order right, organizes a global empire of the stock through decisions about exceptions; and the biopower or subjectivities production, languages, relations and life patterns.
