Espacio, mujer y función monacal: Mecanismos y recursos (heterotópicos) contra la dominación patriarcal

The aim of this paper is to use the Foucaultian concept of «heterotopia», as well as his analysis of power-resistance mechanisms, in order to show how the monastic enclosure of women since the early fifteenth century implies unprecedented opportunities for agency. In specific terms, it examines the features of discursive agency related to the organization and hierarchy of convents and the symbolic mechanisms which accompanied them, which act as indexes of resistance.
