The aim of the present article it to examine a short story
written by Alfred Döblin and entitled «The Dancer and the Body», to show that what is apparently only the narrative of the life of a dancer, actually deploys a far-reaching philosophical problem: the relation between the subject and the object. The short story will throw light on the philosophical problem and this, in turn, will allow us to deploy an underlying meaning of the story which is often overlooked.
KEY-WORDS: Alfred Döblin, Epistemiology, Michel Foucault, Martin Buber, Relation subject-object.
