Food in the Qur'an is a gift of God to men, a source of pleasure and spiritual and physical nourishment. The act of eating can not be separated from God consciousness, thus, food requirements and restrictions found in the Qur'an create a global effect on men, covering their different dimensions. This paper reveals the spiritual and symbolic significance of food requirements in the Qur'an. It offers also an opinion from a scientific standpoint. All this to encourage safe intercultural practice applied to health and to make the most of it, accepting that spiritual well-being involves, undoubtedly, an impact on biological status of human beings. After all, this is the first concern for health professionals, although not necessarily the only one.
