The article is about the position of the National Socialist party in front of the Protestant and Catholic Churches; its goal and its plot to destroy them. This article will be the first of three. This one will show: 1) the Nazi thought about Churches and its policy; 2) the position of some protestant Churches and the birth of the "German Christians" -a Nazi Protestant New Church: only those who could demonstrate they were really "Aryan" could be members of it; 3) the resistance of some protestant priests who had joined the "Confessant Church" founded by Martin Niemöller, and 4) the political, spiritual and theological position of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, his crisis, his beliefs and his conclusions. Confessant Church and Dietrich Bonhoeffer fought against National Socialists and their anti-Semitism terror policy. They saved the lives of some Jews. Moreover, Bonhoeffer, and "Abwehr" (counterespionage German official service) member, participated in a plot to kill Hitler. This action condemned him to the gallows. On the one hand, the next articles will show the attitude of the Catholic Church in front of the Nazism and its consequences. On the other hand, the document "We remember: a reflection on the Shoah" will be analyzed.
