Geotourism, a segment of environmental tourism, recognizes the importance of geological heritage in order not only to promote tourism, but also to contribute to the awareness of environmental preservation. Geotourism provides leisure, education and academic studies, in addition to enabling income-generating activities that strengthen the local economy. The purpose of this article is to identify geotourism potential and environmental fragilities in Pedra Branca State Park, located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Through the free software Vicon SAGA created by the Laboratory of Geoprocessing (LAGEOP) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), the research aims at the storage, acquisition and development of an online database to provide information on the web about geosites potential to the geoconservation and overlapping vulnerabilities of the protected area, enabling a correct planning of the local geotourism in order to avoid risks of environmental damages to the geosites.
