The article starts from the premise that romantic love, both through its conceptualization and through the educational and love experiences it promotes, is an intrinsic part of women’s social subordination. It is necessary to examine the concept, in order to work out the mechanisms of this subordination and, in more general terms, the way the gender system works and how to bring about changes. We reassess several feminist readings on the psychology of love and add new
