The second half of the 19th century was a time of deep changes in the infrastructure and road network of the Girona regions, partly caused by the arrival of the railway. A circumstance that led to the increase in professionals specialized in these matters and the proliferation of new road projects, urban expansions and improvements with new fords and bridges that led to cartographic modifications. From his relationship with the Rocabertí brothers, we discover the figure of Esteve Muxach, foreman and Chief Director of local roads and irrigation canals of the Girona Provincial Council; a key figure in the sector who developed his work in the six judicial districts of the province.
