The gralla, a typical, double reed instrument in traditional Catalan music, has become the protagonist of many events at popular festivals in Catalonia in recent decades. At first this work was thought to be a study of why, when and who brought this instrument to Alt Empordà at the end of the twentieth century and its progress to the present day. As a result of my research, I discovered that there was an instrument called gralla prior to the twentieth the century in northeastern Catalonia.
