In the first half of the 19th century, malaria was still present in the Alt Empordà region. Although it is difficult to separate the study of the disease at the Sant Ferran Castle from that of the region, this work is limited to the analysis of the 5 Manuscript Memoirs kept at the Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia dedicated to determining the causes of the presence of malaria in the castle, its treatment and its impact on the troops.
