Causes of erosion at s’Abanell beach (Blanes)

The objectives of this work are to see how the beach of s'Abanell has evolved since 1956, to investigate the problems that this beach has suffered lately, to look for the origin of its erosion and to define the criteria that future proposals should follow to address it. To achieve these objectives, two methodologies have been used: the study of comparative maps of the coast (1956-2006) and the study of photographs measuring the width of the beach (2009-present). The evolutions detected in the two stages have then been compared with the anthropogenic impact (human activities) in the same periods, to see if there is any relation.
